Description
De Toren Fusion V 2021 in magnum. This is the estate's flagship Left Bank-style blend of all five noble Bordeaux varieties from the Polkadraai Hills, from an outstanding Cape vintage. The larger bottle lets it mature more slowly and gracefully, which makes the magnum the collector's choice.
Tasting Notes
The wine is deep ruby with a purple rim. On the nose there is cassis, black cherry and cranberry, then graphite, cedar, cigar box and a touch of violet. The palate is concentrated but polished, with fine-grained tannins, bright acidity and a long, mineral finish.
Blend & Maturation
The blend is led by Cabernet Sauvignon (around 53%) with Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. It spends 12 months in 225L French and American oak in a climate-controlled barrel room.
Serving & Cellaring
Decant for at least an hour and serve at 15–18°C. It pairs beautifully with roast or grilled lamb and is a showpiece for celebrations and long tables. It can be cellared for 20 years or more.
