Description
De Toren Edition Z is the estate's Right Bank-inspired, Merlot-led blend. It comes from cool, clay-rich vineyards facing the ocean, and its name refers to the Zephyr breeze that cools the block. It is plush, generous and easy to enjoy young, with the structure to age.
Tasting Notes
The nose is fragrant with violets, black plum, blueberry and mulberry, with cassis, liquorice and a light dusting of cedar and vanilla. The palate is medium to full-bodied and full of dark berry fruit and black cherry. Soft tannins lead to a creamy, lingering finish.
Blend & Maturation
Merlot leads, supported by Cabernet Franc and a little Petit Verdot (the 2019 is 67% Merlot, 29% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot). It is aged for 12 months in French and American oak.
Serving & Cellaring
Serve at 15–18°C. It is a versatile food wine that goes with duck, lamb, beef, poultry and richer fish dishes. Drink now or cellar for up to 15 years.
