Description
Dark is medium in structure and shows slightly elevated acidity. The nose is gentle but impressive, with rich Christmas spice coming through and an enticing juicy dried fruit note. Fresh dark fruits provide a deep, sumptuous flavour to the palate.
The nose is gentle yet defiant, and opens with the aroma of pink peppercorns and herby notes. You will feel as though you are walking through a herb garden on an early summer evening, when the herbs are fragrant and aromatic.
There are notes of lavender and thyme, mingled with deep blueberry and plum favours, as well as light iodine. It is youthful but not without character, focusing on elegance and spice. Dark chocolate and warm spices bring in the finish.
This is truly a Syrah that can transport you to the South of France – or to our unique Franschhoek winery – with a single sip.
At our winery, we do not use generic barrels because we want to produce extraordinary results. Our new barrels are seasoned, dry, and are without toasting for up to five years, before being steamed. They are then used for 16 months to make the wine. There is an inherent patience in the making of our wine.
