It is also a play on the Pinot Noir cultivar’s nickname – the Heart Break grape. Fortunately, our 2018 Pinot Noir offering has once again captured our hearts and is anything but a disappointment. Production was very limited - only 10 barrels \/ 2148 liters of this vintage were vinified.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003ePristine grapes (Clone PN115, Guyot pruned) selected from two different slopes on our farm Wallovale Vineyards, were vinified with much love and gentle attention at the Almenkerk Wine Estate. Whole berry fermented in open fermenters, basket pressed and taken to barrel where it completed malolactic fermentation. After 10 months on wood (20% new wood, 45% second fill, 35% third and fourth fill), the wine was prepared for bottling. Bottling date was 29th January 2019.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe Brave Heart Pinot Noir proudly introduces itself with a bright ruby red colour enticing you to explore it further. Fresh primary fruits, wafts of ripe red cherries and strawberries with a hint of bayleaf on the nose follow through onto a fruit driven palate. Taste the succulent red cherries, juicy ripe strawberries, embellished by fine silky tannins imparted by the subtle use of French oak and spicy undertones typical of the Elgin region.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eOur Brave Heart Pinot Noir is so very versatile and will compliment a wide range of foods. Too delicate to serve with a curry or very creamy dish but superb with plum-glazed duck, roast turkey, chicken dishes, mushroom risotto, or a beautiful side of salmon.
